How Much Do Water Softeners Cost?

As an independent business, we work with a range of different manufacturers to offer you the best product for your requirements. As a result, the price range for our water softeners is varied, and depends on a number of factors including the capacity, the manufacturer, and duration of the guarantee.

Water softener costs begin at £575 + VAT and go up to £2,500 for domestic units. Commercial water softeners tend to be larger and have to manage a larger water capacity, so prices start at £1298 + VAT and go up to £5,000 and above.

What are the Running Costs?

As with different models/brands, running costs also vary. All our water softeners are designed so that they do not require regular maintenance. Some of our water softeners are non-electrical so there will be absolutely no increase in your electricity bills. However, even models that do use electricity only use around 15p per day.

Salt usage also depends on the amount of water passing through the system, the type of salt used and the hardness of the original water coming into the softener. Salt costs for running a water softener are often around £100-£120 for a smaller household.

Despite these additional costs, water softeners regularly ‘pay for themselves’ within just a few years thanks to the savings in toiletries, better heat efficiency, and improved water systems. Many households report spending up to 50% less on toiletries and cleaning products, while other expenses such as limescale remover are removed entirely.
