A Family Run Water Softener Company Since 1983.

Capital Softeners is an independent, family run water softener company based in Hertford, Hertfordshire. Since 1983 we have been supplying, installing and maintaining water softeners, drinking water filters and Quooker boiling taps for homes and businesses across London, Hertfordshire, Essex and the surrounding areas.

The company was founded by Alan Wright, who grew up around the water treatment industry. Before starting Capital Softeners, Alan worked alongside his father Jim, who had already spent more than 15 years working in water treatment. That experience laid the foundations for the practical knowledge and customer first approach the company is known for today.

Over the years the business has grown, but it has remained firmly family run. Karen, Alan’s wife, joined the office team along with Lauren, Alan’s niece, while Sue and Lesley help manage accounts and customer support. Jordan, Alan’s nephew, leads sales and is also an experienced engineer, supported by a team of skilled installers including Lee, Ross and Spencer.

The Next Generation of the Business

In 2020 Alan and Karen stepped back from the day to day running of the business, with Lauren and Jordan taking on the leadership of the company. Alan and Karen still remain involved behind the scenes, helping guide the direction of the family business.

As an independent water softener company we are not tied to a single manufacturer. This allows us to recommend and install systems from several of the most trusted brands in the industry, including Harvey Water Softeners, Kinetico, EcoWater and Micropure.
